[2019] - “Al-JArima 1”, Zeez Collective
[2019] - Open Studios, Ashkal Alwan
is an experimental comic that was first published digitally in the first issue of Al-Jarima by Zeez Collective. “Al Jarima (The Crime) began as a conceptual collaborative project, where each of the collective’s members speculated about a mysterious but purely fictional death that took place in Beirut’s Martyr’s Square. The first issue was published on March 22, 2019 in the form of a newspaper, as a comment on how the media can put different spins on the same story and jump to different conclusions.” Find the complete issue at www.zeezcollective.com In my story, something seems to have happened in the buildings facing the square that have been under construction for more than 10 years. Between speculative architecture and social media dating apps, my story takes place in what seems to be an abstract space of communication. How to we start building our dreams on such fragile ground?
